Rangers
Project Description:
Japanese mobile phone company, KDDI, commissioned creative agency Airside to produce an illustrated booklet to be given free to purchasers of a new KDDI phone. The phone comes with novelty USB plug attachments such as toy fireman (or rangers as they are known in Japan) who clip to the plug cord as if they were holding a fire hose, or toy birds sitting on a telephone wire. KDDI wanted the booklet to tell the story of the attachments.
I was asked by Airside to write a story featuring the KDDI characters. My story gave a new twist to the old story of firemen rescuing a cat and features Airside’s beautiful illustrations that tell the story in sequential comic book style.
